The 23-lens inspection

Instagram, phone, cellular: you have about three seconds

Most patients arrive from a social tap on a phone. Every second of load time is a percentage of them gone before your site says a word.

Trace the actual journey: she sees your post or a friend's tag, taps through on cellular, and your site gets one impatient thumb and a short attention budget. If the hero image is an 8-megabyte photograph and three tracking scripts load before the headline, she's back on Instagram before your brand exists. Performance isn't an engineering nicety — it's the bouncer at your own front door.

The medspa-specific failure is ironic: beautiful photography, shipped raw. A 6MB camera original where a 150KB optimized image would look identical on a phone. Font files for four typefaces where two would do. A booking widget that loads its own universe. The fixes are unglamorous and enormous: compress, lazy-load, subset, defer.

The number that matters: interactive in under three seconds on a mid-range phone on cellular. Not your fiber-connected laptop — her bus ride.

Same photograph to the human eye, 2% of the weight. Speed is the least visible luxury and the most felt.
