Consistency is the strongest cheap quality signal in design. When every button on a site is the same shape, every card the same radius, every heading the same scale — the visitor's brain files the whole experience as authored: someone decided this, someone is in charge here. When they vary at random, the same brain quietly files assembled — and starts wondering what else at this business is improvised.
The usual causes are innocent: a plugin brought its own styles, a promo page was rushed, the booking widget came from a vendor who's never seen your brand. The patient doesn't know the causes. She just feels the site becoming a different website every few scrolls — and in a trust-critical category, “which of these is really them?” is a fatal question.
The sweep takes an afternoon: inventory every button, card, heading, and icon style in use; keep one of each; delete the rest. It's the highest polish-per-hour work that exists on the web.
